The comdivision group

comdivision group was founded in April 1996 by Philip Kriener and Yves Sandfort, initially established by kriener - potthoff communications GmbH. As early adopters the company developed our own content management system "ISy.Net", which aimed to help people maintain their own content on the web. With additional founding by the "DFG (German Research Foundation)" the first achievement was to bring over 400 public service organizations onto the web.

As comdivision evolved over the years, management identified new targets and the main business focus shifted to IT-Management and Outsourcing. In 2001, the most challenging year for the Internet economy, Philip Kriener and Yves Sandfort chose a dramatic step to buy out the comdivision group, becoming the only shareholders.

Starting in 2003 comdivision seperated the Hosting business from consulting and integration. The hosting business (under new management) grow rapidly to more than 10.000 customers, making it necessary to split the companies. As the market continued to grow, Philip Kriener moved to the United States to establish the US operation. In 2007 the comdivision consulting GmbH was founded to take on all the consulting and integration business, allowing the management to sell of it's shares in the comdivision Hosting business to the USA based NSI Group, as it became clear that comdivision's strength lies in consulting, outsourcing and cloud technologies.

During the growth of the hosting business comdivision consulting was able to gain a lot of knowledge in VMware Enterprise virtualization as well as storage on the technical side, becoming an early VMware Enterprise Partner in 2006. In the application area, a company owned development team was setup to build an Enterprise Application Stack based on Open Source tools like Compiere, SugarCRM and xTuple.

In 2009 comdivision's founder and key architect Yves Sandfort was approached by VMware to take an active role in their global education concept. He became an VMware Certified Instructor and is also one of the few hand picked VMware Mentors not being employed by a VMware education center.

2010 comdivision decided to alter its focus to VMware and sorrounding products for backup, services and management to accompany customers on their journey to the cloud.

Celebrating it's 15th anniversary in 2011 comdivision group consists of four companies with four subsidaries, able to service it's global customer base with design, consulting, training and troubleshooting around cloud technologies.
